Church Prayer Calendar
You are encouraged to pray for the above congregations of the Presbytery of
Western North Carolina on their designated Sunday. Also remember our
missionaries and mission activities as a reminder that our family extends all
over the world.
What are
mission trips? They are...
WINDOWS through which to see the world and God's vision for it in new
ways;....MIRRORS in which to see ourselves, our church, our culture more
clearly;....DOORWAYS through which we enter into deeper fellowship with God and
our neighbor;...VOICES through which we may hear God's call to us. WHAT
ARE MISSION TEAM MEMBERS? BRIDGES between those they visit and their
congregation, between God's activity in one part of the world and God's activity
in their own community.
If our support base at the home church is strong on prayer, giving and
fellowship, there will always be people there who feel compelled to participate
in Christian mission in some form. They begin to recognize that God has
blessed their lives with gifts, and that steps of faith are required of
them. They recognize that our lives are relatively brief when it comes to
doing missions in the name of Jesus Christ. They pray about it and, if God
so directs their hearts, they make known their willingness to serve.
The following prayer was written by Bram Lewis while on a Mission trip to D'Iberville, Mississippi in February 2006. It uses the inspirational words of "Out of Chaos, Hope" taken from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD,
Give Us Strength
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us Light
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us Understanding
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us Patience
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us Flexibility
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us Laughter and a Sense of Humor
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us and Iron Resolve
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give Us a Gentle Heart; the Better to Hear Each Other and You
Out of Chaos, Hope.
LORD, Give us Wisdom
Out of Chaos, Hope.
We thank Thee for this day and this joy in the incredible fellowship there in
each and every person. We feel Your presence. We dedicate ourselves
to do Your work so that here and now, today, there will be;
OUT OF CHAOS, HOPE.
