Rev. George A. Sparrow

Rev. George A. Sparrow pastored at Union church from November 1893 to July 1922. Serving at Union for nearly 29 years makes him Union's longest called pastorate. For most of that time, Rev. Sparrow was a yoked pastor, serving part of his time at Union Church and part of his time at Olney Church.

As a very young man, Rev. Sparrow served as a Confederate soldier. There is a book that was published in 2011 by Joy Sparrow that is a compilation of letters between Rev. Sparrow and his father, Major Thomas Sparrow. The book chronicles his time as a soldier and his early years as a pastor.
