Worship with us!
Due to the Covid 19 hospitalization numbers climbing in Gastonia, we will cancel our indoor worship service at 11 AM for the next two weeks. But DON'T FORGET...you can worship outdoors with us at 9 AM each Sunday or worship online with us.
Celebration of the Lord's Supper
Join us on Sunday, February 7th as we celebrate the Lord's Supper in our 9 AM outdoor worship service.
Special Service to Burn Ashes for Ash Wednesday
On Sunday, February 7, at 10:30 AM, we plan to hold a special service to prepare ashes for Ash Wednesday. We will sing hymns, burn palms (provided) and pray over the ashes. For this Sunday only, our outdoor service will at 10:00 AM instead of 9 AM so that those coming to our outdoor service and those coming to our 11 AM service (if able to have it) will be able to attend. If it is raining, this event will be moved to Sunday, February 14. (Communion will be on the 7th either way).
Ash Wednesday - Drive By Ashes
On Wednesday, February 17 ashes will be dispensed in a drive-through venue from 6:30 until 8 AM and from 5:30 until 7 PM. The ashes will be provided in individual containers (due to Covid 19). We will not have a traditional Ash Wednesday service. For a flyer, check here.
God Sightings
During the Season of Epiphany we invite you to keep a careful look out for what God is doing in your life and in your midst. A God Sighting is anywhere you see God or Christ. Perhaps this month you will you see the majesty of God or experience God’s peace or joy in a specific place. Maybe you will see the love of God through interactions with another or God might reveal something profound to you in Scripture or prayer. We invite you to write down your God Sightings and leave them in the offering plate the following week, contact the church office with them, or send us a message through our webpage (www.unionpresbyterianchurch.com/godsightings).
These God sightings will be posted on Facebook, listed on our webpage and in worship. Reading of others experiences with God can often help us see more clearly where and how God is at work in our own lives! We hope this Epiphany project might open all of our eyes to God at work this year and fill us with joy!
The Blessing Box
A box of various supplies has been placed at Stephen's Stump to provide some small relief for those struggling during this time. If you would like to contribute to this ministry, please check here for items needed. Just bring items to the church and place in the red barrel at the main entrance.
On-Line Giving
For your convenience, we are adding a method for you to give offerings on our website with an app called Tithe.ly. Tithe.ly is an outside app that takes every measure to keep your information secure as you are giving. Please note that if you choose to use this app, the Church Treasurer and the Administrative Assistant are the only ones who have access to the information.
