Praying Through Lent
Week 3- PICK UP YOUR CROSS
We invite you to use these Scriptures and prayer prompts as you walk through Lent this year.
23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
“Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’”
What does it mean to take up your cross daily?
How do we pick up our cross in regards to our thoughts? What thoughts do you have that aren’t pleasing to God that you need to daily “put to death?”
Are there temptations in your life that need to cease?
Are there places in your life that you know Jesus would wade into, people he would love, or actions he would take that you avoid?
Are there places in your life where you need to say “not my will, but Yours, be done?”
When Rani decided to follow Jesus, his wife took the children and left him. For several years, he has boldly shared the Gospel in South Asia and has recently been arrested and was refused bail.
As the soldiers led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
